Arrogance, Boons, and Nimitta

इन्द्र उवाच अमार्ग एष विदप्रर्षे येन त्वं यातुमिच्छसि । कि विघातेन ते विप्र गच्छाधीहि गुरोर्मुखात्‌,इन्द्र बोले--विप्ररषे! तुम जिस राहसे जाना चाहते हो, वह अध्ययनका मार्ग नहीं है। स्वाध्यायके समुचित मार्गको नष्ट करनेसे तुम्हें क्या लाभ होगा? अतः: जाओ गुरुके मुखसे ही अध्ययन करो

indra uvāca: amārga eṣa vidaprarṣe yena tvaṃ yātum icchasi | kiṃ vighātena te vipra gacchādhīhi guror mukhāt ||

Indra dijo: “Oh sabio vidente, el camino por el que deseas avanzar no es la senda correcta del estudio. ¿Qué ganancia obtendrás, oh brāhmaṇa, al trastornar (o destruir) el curso recto del aprendizaje sagrado? Ve: aprende directamente de la boca de tu maestro.”
