Bhāgīratha’s Tapas and the Petition to Gaṅgā (गङ्गावतरण-प्रसङ्गः)
षष्टि: पुत्रसहस्राणि तस्याप्रतिमतेजस: । रुद्रप्रसादाद् राजर्षे: समजायन्त पार्थिव,फिर पुत्रोंकी रक्षाके लिये तत्पर हो सबके लिये पृथक्-पृथक् धायें नियुक्त कर दीं। तदनन्तर दीर्घकालके पश्चात् उस अनुपम तेजस्वी नरेशके साठ हजार महाबली पुत्र उन घड़ोंमेंसे निकल आये। युधिष्छिर! राजर्षि सगरके वे सभी पुत्र भगवान् शिवकी कृपासे ही उत्पन्न हुए थे
ṣaṣṭiḥ putrasahasrāṇi tasyāpratimatejasaḥ | rudraprasādād rājarṣeḥ samajāyanta pārthiva ||
Oh rey, llegado el tiempo, aquel sabio real de esplendor incomparable tuvo sesenta mil hijos. Su nacimiento se debió a la gracia de Rudra (Śiva), mostrando que aun el poder y la estirpe de los reyes dependen, en última instancia, del favor divino y del mérito que lo convoca.
