सगरोपाख्यानम् — कपिलकोपः, अंशुमतः विनयः, तथा भगीरथपरम्परा

तं॑ प्रीतिमान् हर: प्राह सभार्य नृपसत्तमम् | यस्मिन् वृतो मुहूर्तेडहं त्वयेह नूपते वरम्,वरदायक भगवान् शिवको देखते ही महाबाहु राजा सगरने दोनों पत्नियोंसहित प्रणाम किया और पुत्रके लिये याचना की। तब भगवान् शिवने प्रसन्न होकर पत्नीसहित नृपश्रेष्ठ सगरसे कहा--'राजन्! तुमने यहाँ जिस मुहूर्तमें वर माँगा है, उसका परिणाम यह होगा
taṁ prītimān haraḥ prāha sabhāryaṁ nṛpasattamam | yasmin vṛto muhūrte ’haṁ tvayehā nūpate varam ||
Con el corazón complacido, Hara (Śiva) habló al mejor de los reyes, que allí estaba con sus esposas: «Oh rey, el don que me has pedido en este mismo instante dará un fruto correspondiente».
