Preparations to Honor Keśava at the Kuru Court
The verse highlights the Mahābhārata motif that moral and political disorder (adharma) is mirrored by disturbances in nature. Such portents function as warnings: when leaders ignore counsel and righteousness, the world itself seems to signal impending calamity.
As events move toward the great conflict, ominous signs appear around Hastināpura. A violent south-west wind shakes the city, breaks trees in groups, and produces a thunderbolt-like roar—an atmospheric portent foreshadowing turmoil for the Kuru realm.
