Amba-ākhyāna prologue
Satyajit samaraślāghī Drupadasyātmajo yuvā | gataḥ so 'tirathatvaṃ hi Dhṛṣṭadyumnena samitaḥ ||
The verse highlights the Kṣatriya ideal of earned reputation: martial excellence is recognized through comparison with established heroes, and status (like atiratha) is grounded in demonstrated capability rather than mere birth.
Bhīṣma is evaluating and describing notable warriors, stating that Satyajit—Drupada’s young son—has reached the level of an atiratha, being considered equal to Dhṛṣṭadyumna in battle-worthiness.
