हन्त यत् ते प्रवक्ष्यामि तच्छुणुष्व समाहित: । ऋषीणां देवतानां च सम्भवं वसुधातले
hanta yat te pravakṣyāmi tac chṛṇuṣva samāhitaḥ | ṛṣīṇāṃ devatānāṃ ca sambhavaṃ vasudhātale ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Ea pues: escucha con la mente recogida lo que voy a decirte. Con claridad y buena voluntad relataré la manifestación y el origen de los rishis y de los dioses sobre la faz de la tierra».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
