Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 2 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry for His Kin and the Vision of a Punitive Realm
करम्भवालुकास्तप्ता आयसीश्व शिला:पृथक् । लोहकुम्भी श्व॒ तैलस्य क्वाथ्यमाना: समन्ततः
karambha-vālukās taptā āyasīś ca śilāḥ pṛthak | loha-kumbhī ca tailasya kvāthyamānāḥ samantataḥ ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: «En algunos lugares, montones de arena mezclada con gachas (karambha) yacen abrasadores; en otros, enormes losas de hierro están dispuestas aparte. Y por doquier se hierve aceite en calderos de hierro». La visión intensifica el clima moral del castigo: el camino por delante se muestra como un paisaje de calor punitivo y tormento, evocación de las consecuencias del adharma y de las culpas acumuladas.
