अमानी सत्यवान क्षान्तो जितात्मा मानसंयुत: । स ते मन्त्रसहाय: स्यात्‌ सर्वावस्थापरीक्षित:

Transliteration

amānī satyavān kṣānto jitātmā mānasaṁyutaḥ | sa te mantrasahāyaḥ syāt sarvāvasthāparīkṣitaḥ ||

Translation

Dijo Bhīṣma: «Que sea tu auxiliar en el consejo secreto aquel que está libre de vanidad, es veraz, paciente, dueño de sí y dotado de una mente disciplinada. Sólo una persona así—probada en toda condición de la vida—es apta para asistirte en deliberaciones ocultas.»
