Chapter 72 — Royal Duty: protection of subjects, taxation, punishment, and appointments
धर्मनिष्ठान् श्रुतवतो वेदब्रतसमाहितान् । अर्चयित्वा यजेथास्त्वं गृहे गुणवतो द्विजान्,जब घरपर वेदव्रतपरायण, शास्त्रज्ञ एवं धर्मिष्ठ गुणवान् ब्राह्मण पधारें, उस समय उन्हें देखते ही खड़े हो उनका स्वागत करो। उनके चरण पकड़कर प्रणाम करो और उनकी विधिपूर्वक अर्चन करके पूजा करो। तदनन्तर पुरोहितको साथ लेकर समस्त आवश्यक कार्य सम्पन्न करो
dharmaniṣṭhān śrutavato vedavratasaṃhitān | arcayitvā yajethāstvaṃ gṛhe guṇavato dvijān ||
Bhīṣma dijo: «Cuando a tu casa lleguen brahmanes virtuosos—firmes en el dharma, versados en la enseñanza sagrada y entregados a los votos védicos—levántate para honrarlos. Recíbelos con respeto, inclínate a sus pies y ofréceles la debida adoración conforme al rito. Después, acompañado de tu sacerdote doméstico, procede a cumplir los ritos necesarios y los deberes del hogar. Así, la reverencia a los justos y el sostén del orden védico se vuelven el fundamento de una vida doméstica recta.»
