अस्तब्ध: पूजयेन्मान्यान् गुरून् सेवेदमायया । अर्चेद् देवानदम्भेन श्रियमिच्छेदकुत्सिताम्
astabdhaḥ pūjayen mānyān gurūn seved amāyayā | arced devān adambhena śriyam icched akutsitām ||
Bhīṣma enseña: abandona la arrogancia y, con humildad, honra a quienes merecen respeto. Sirve a tus maestros sin engaño; adora a los dioses sin ostentación; y busca la prosperidad sólo por medios irreprochables, sin mancha. Así, la conducta social, la práctica espiritual y la aspiración material quedan sometidas a la disciplina del dharma.
भीष्म उवाच
Cultivate humility and integrity: honor the worthy, serve teachers sincerely, worship without show, and pursue prosperity only through morally blameless means.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma after the war; here he lays down practical norms of conduct that integrate social respect, disciplined discipleship, genuine devotion, and ethical acquisition of wealth.
