Nāgendra–Brāhmaṇa Saṃvāda: Praśna-vidhi and Dharmic Approach on the Gomatī Riverbank
यच्च तत् कथित पूर्व त्वया हयशिरो महत् । तच्च दृष्टं भगवता ब्रह्मणा परमेछ्ठिना
śaunaka uvāca | yac ca tat kathitaṃ pūrvaṃ tvayā hayaśiro mahat | tac ca dṛṣṭaṃ bhagavatā brahmaṇā parameṣṭhinā ||
Dijo Śaunaka: «Antes me hablaste de aquella gran manifestación del de Cabeza de Caballo (Hayagrīva). Y también dijiste que el bienaventurado Brahmā Parameṣṭhin contempló directamente esa forma.»
शौनक उवाच
The verse underscores the authority of sacred tradition: a divine manifestation is not merely hearsay but is affirmed through prior narration and direct divine witnessing (Brahmā’s vision), encouraging reverence for transmitted knowledge and trustworthy testimony.
Śaunaka recalls what the interlocutor had earlier described—namely, the great Horse-headed form (Hayagrīva)—and adds that Brahmā (called Parameṣṭhin) personally saw that form, setting up or reinforcing the credibility of the ensuing account.
