Mahābhārata 12.347
एषा तस्य स्थितिर्विप्र पितर: पिण्डसंज्ञिता: । लभन्ते सततं पूजां वृषाकपिवचो यथा,ब्रह्मन! यह भगवान्की ही नियत की हुई मर्यादा है। इस प्रकार पितरोंको पिण्डसंज्ञा प्राप्त हुई है। भगवान् वराहके कथनानुसार वे पितर सदा सबके द्वारा पूजा प्राप्त करते हैं
eṣā tasya sthitir vipra pitaraḥ piṇḍasaṃjñitāḥ | labhante satataṃ pūjāṃ vṛṣākapivaco yathā, brahman |
Dijo Nārada: «Oh brāhmaṇa, éste es el orden establecido por Él: a los Pitṛs se les designa como “piṇḍa”, y conforme a las palabras de Vṛṣākapi, reciben veneración sin cesar».
नारद उवाच
That honoring the ancestors through piṇḍa-offerings is a divinely sanctioned dharmic institution; the Pitṛs, being ‘piṇḍa-saṃjñita’, are entitled to continual reverence, reinforcing gratitude and responsibility toward lineage and society.
Nārada explains to a brāhmaṇa the established rule by which the Pitṛs are connected with the piṇḍa offering and therefore receive ongoing worship, citing authoritative ‘words of Vṛṣākapi’ as the validating tradition.
