Yajña-bhāga-vyavasthā and the Pravṛtti–Nivṛtti Framework (यज्ञभागव्यवस्था तथा प्रवृत्तिनिवृत्तिधर्मविवेचनम्)

सुमन्तुं च महाभागं वैशम्पायनमेव च । जैमिनिं च महाप्राज्ञं पैलं चापि तपस्विनम्‌,उसी बुद्धिमान्‌ गिरिराज हिमवानकी पूर्व दिशाका आश्रय लेकर पर्वतके एकान्त तटप्रान्तमें महातपस्वी महाबुद्धिमान्‌ पराशरनन्दन व्यास अपने शिष्य महाभाग सुमन्तु, महाबुद्धिमान्‌ जैमिनि, तपस्वी पैल तथा वैशम्पायन-इन चार शिष्योंको वेद पढ़ा रहे थे

sumantuṁ ca mahābhāgaṁ vaiśampāyanam eva ca | jaiminiṁ ca mahāprājñaṁ pailaṁ cāpi tapasvinam ||

Dijo Bhīṣma: «(Él enseñó) al ilustre Sumantu, y también a Vaiśampāyana; al muy sabio Jaimini; y asimismo a Paila, el asceta». En su contexto, el verso recuerda la transmisión de Vyāsa del saber sagrado a discípulos dignos, y subraya que el aprendizaje se resguarda por el carácter, la disciplina y la aptitud para recibirlo.
