पज्चैव तानि कालक्ष भावाभावौ च केवलौ । अष्टौ भूतानि भूतानां शाश्वतानि भवात्ययौ
pañcaiva tāni kālaś ca bhāvābhāvau ca kevalau | aṣṭau bhūtāni bhūtānāṃ śāśvatāni bhavātyayau ||
Asita dijo: «Esos cinco (grandes elementos), y el Tiempo, y el Ser puro y el No-ser solamente: éstos son los ocho principios eternos. Se alzan como fundamento del surgir y del disolverse de todos los seres, rigiendo tanto su advenimiento como su desaparición.»
