इमानि हि प्राणयन्ति सृजन्त्युत्तारयन्ति च । न धर्म: परिपाठेन शक््यो भारत वेदितुम्,भरतनन्दन! धर्म ही इन प्राणियोंकी सृष्टि करते हैं। धर्म ही उनके जीवनधारण और उद्धारमें कारण होते हैं; परंतु धर्मको केवल वेदोंके पाठमात्रसे नहीं जाना जा सकता
imāni hi prāṇayanti sṛjanti uttārayanti ca | na dharmaḥ paripāṭhena śakyo bhārata veditum ||
Dijo Yudhiṣṭhira: «En verdad, es el Dharma quien sostiene a estos seres, los engendra y también los conduce a la liberación. Pero, oh Bhārata, el Dharma no puede conocerse sólo por la recitación mecánica de los textos sagrados.»
