Dharma-Pramāṇa-Vicāra: The Elusiveness of Dharma and the Limits of Rule-Lists

Educational Q&A

True yogic discipline is continuous: the purified self (sattvātmā) remains under one’s mastery equally in day and night, in waking and sleeping, indicating stable freedom from agitation and desire.

Vyāsa is describing the hallmark of accomplished yogins in the Śānti Parva’s instruction: their inner self does not fluctuate with external conditions or time; it abides steadily under control at all times.
