Adhyāya 159 — Dāna–Dakṣiṇā, Āpaddharma Measures, and Prāyaścitta Classifications

रसवेगश्न दुर्वार्य: श्रोत्रवेगश्न॒ दुःसह: । कुत्सा विकत्था मात्सर्य पापं दुष्करकारिता

rasavegaś ca durvāryaḥ śrotravegaś ca duḥsahaḥ | kutsā vikatthā mātsaryaṁ pāpaṁ duṣkarakāritā ||

Bhīṣma dijo: «La oleada del gusto es difícil de contener, y la oleada de lo que se oye es difícil de soportar. El desprecio, la ostentación jactanciosa, la envidia, la inclinación al pecado y la tendencia a empujar a uno hacia actos arduos y dañinos: estas son fuerzas interiores que perturban al hombre y lo apartan de la conducta justa».
