त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
भूय: स भगवान् ध्यात्वा चिरं शूलवरायुध: । तस्य तस्य निकायस्य चकारैकैकमीश्वरम्,भगवान् शूलपाणिने पुन: चिरकालतक चिन्तन करके भिन्न-भिन्न समूहका एक-एक राजा बनाया
bhūyaḥ sa bhagavān dhyātvā ciraṃ śūlavarāyudhaḥ | tasya tasya nikāyasya cakāraikaikam īśvaram ||
Entonces aquel Señor Bienaventurado—cuyo arma suprema es la lanza—volvió a meditar largamente. Tras la debida contemplación, designó para cada grupo distinto a un único gobernante, estableciendo un ordenado gobierno para cada comunidad.
