Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद
अपि चैतत् पुरा राजन् मनुना प्रोक्तमादित:
api caitat purā rājan manunā proktam āditaḥ
Bhīṣma dijo: «Además, oh rey, este mismo principio fue enseñado desde antiguo por Manu, desde el comienzo: cuando un soberano, manteniéndose ecuánime ante lo grato y lo ingrato, no favorece a nadie y aplica el castigo con exactitud mientras protege bien al pueblo, ese acto de gobierno no es sino dharma.»
