धननाशाद्‌ दुःखतरं जीवितादू विप्रयोजनम्‌ | अयं ते रोचतां धर्म इति वाच्य: प्रयत्नत:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | dhananāśād duḥkhataraṃ jīvitād viprayojanam | ayaṃ te rocatāṃ dharma iti vācyaḥ prayatnataḥ |

Translation

Bhīṣma dijo: «Más dolorosa que la pérdida de la riqueza es la separación de la vida misma: arrebatar la vida. Por ello, que el dharma sea lo que tú aprecies. Esta enseñanza —“Que el dharma sea tu deleite elegido”— debe comunicarse a los malvados con esfuerzo deliberado, para instruirlos y contenerlos».
