रथसेनाके भंग हो जानेपर तीन हजार विशालकाय गजराजोंने समस्त पाण्डवरथियोंको चारों ओरसे घेर लिया ।।

Dijo Sañjaya: Cuando el ejército de carros hubo sido quebrado, tres mil enormes elefantes señoriales cercaron por todos lados a todos los guerreros en carro de los Pāṇḍava. Así, encerrados en la batalla por aquel cuerpo de elefantes, oh Bharata, oh Rey, los cinco Pāṇḍava parecían cinco planetas velados por densas nubes. La imagen subraya la sombría presión de la guerra: ni siquiera los justos se libran del cerco, y aun así su firmeza resplandece a través de la tormenta oscurecedora de la violencia y el destino.
