Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity
The verse highlights the sanctity of the guru–disciple lineage: true knowledge is preserved and transmitted through disciplined students who follow śruti (Vedic revelation) under the guidance of an authoritative seer like Vyāsa.
After making a statement in the preceding context, Vyāsa departs for Mount Kailāsa, accompanied by his disciples; Vaiśampāyana reports this to King Janamejaya as a narrative transition to the next development.
