Śiśupāla-vākya: Bhīṣma-nindā and the ‘Haṃsa’ Exemplum
Moral authority is strengthened through satsaṅga—keeping company with the wise. Bhīṣma grounds his praise of Kṛṣṇa not in mere opinion but in testimony heard from many virtuous, widely respected elders, highlighting humility, discernment, and reverence for divine excellence.
Bhīṣma speaks in the royal assembly context, recalling that many esteemed sages and saints have visited and gathered there. From them he has heard extensive descriptions of Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s innumerable virtues, using this as a basis for his assessment and counsel.
