Arjuna Initiates the Northern Campaign and Secures Bhagadattta’s Tribute

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical danger of uncontrolled speech: loud taunts and mutual rebuke can rapidly escalate into physical violence, implying the need for restraint (vāg-niyama) and anger-management to prevent harm.

Two opponents, after exchanging loud insults, begin striking each other fiercely; the blows are compared to a barrage of stones, emphasizing the intensity of the fight.
