मयस्य प्रतिकृतिः — Maya’s Offer and the Commissioning of the Sabhā
मय उवाच अस्मात् कृष्णात् सुसंरब्धात् पावकाच्च दिधक्षत: । त्वया त्रातो5स्मि कौन्तेय ब्रूहि कि करवाणि ते
maya uvāca: asmāt kṛṣṇāt susaṁrabdhāt pāvakāc ca didhakṣataḥ | tvayā trāto 'smi kaunteya brūhi kiṁ karavāṇi te ||
Dijo Maya: «Oh hijo de Kuntī, me has rescatado de este Krishna, encendido en feroz ira, y del dios del Fuego que deseaba consumirme. Dime: ¿qué servicio he de rendirte en pago de este favor?»
मय उवाच
The verse foregrounds kṛtajñatā (gratitude) and reciprocity: when one receives protection or help, one should acknowledge the debt and seek an ethical way to repay it through service.
Mayāsura addresses Arjuna (Kaunteya), saying he has been saved from Kṛṣṇa’s wrath and from Agni’s intent to burn him, and he asks what he can do in return—setting up Mayāsura’s later assistance to the Pāṇḍavas.
