श्रुत्वा कर्णो वच: क्रूरं ततश्नचिच्छेद कार्मुकम् । 'युद्धस्थलमें प्रहारोंक कारण अधिक क्लान्त हो जानेसे वह व्याकुल होकर खड़ा रहा। तदनन्तर समरांगणमें द्रोणाचार्यका समयोचित क्रूर वचन सुनकर कर्णने अभिमन्युके धनुषको काट डाला
