कर्णस्य सेनापत्यं, माकरव्यूहः, पाण्डवानामर्धचन्द्रव्यूहः

वैशम्पायन उवाच एवं ब्रुवन्नेव तदा धृतराष्ट्रोडम्बिकासुत: । हतप्रवीरं विश्वस्तं किंचिच्छेषं स्वकं बलम्
vaiśampāyana uvāca evaṁ bruvann eva tadā dhṛtarāṣṭro ḍambikāsutaḥ | hatapravīraṁ viśvastaṁ kiṁciccheṣaṁ svakaṁ balam ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Mientras hablaba así en aquel momento, el hijo de Dhṛtarāṣṭra (Duryodhana) contempló su propio ejército: sus héroes más eminentes yacían muertos, su confianza estaba quebrantada y apenas quedaba un pequeño remanente.
