तब अर्जुनने उस महामनस्वी वीरके समस्त घोड़ोंको मारकर समरभूमिमें खूनकी नदी- सी बहा दी ।। सर्वलोकवहां रौद्रां परलोकवहां नदीम् । सरथान् रथिन: सर्वान् पार्थचापच्युतै: शरै:
sarvalokavahāṁ raudrāṁ paralokavahāṁ nadīm | sa-rathān rathinaḥ sarvān pārtha-cāpa-cyutaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
Dijo Sañjaya: Con flechas soltadas del arco de Pārtha, Arjuna abatió a todos los guerreros de carros junto con sus carros, y en aquel campo hizo un pavoroso “río de sangre”, que arrebataba a los hombres de este mundo y los llevaba hacia el otro. El verso subraya el terrible peso moral de la guerra: la destreza y el deber se ejecutan mediante la violencia, cuyo fruto es la muerte y el tránsito más allá de la vida.
