देखो, जैसे सिंहसे पीड़ित हुए मृग भागते हैं, उसी प्रकार इस आधी रातके समय सूतपुत्रके द्वारा की हुई बाण-वर्षासे व्यथित हो ये पांचाल सैनिक भागे जा रहे हैं ।।
śrīvāyudeva uvāca |
paśyata, yathā siṃhena pīḍitā mṛgā dhāvanti, tathārdharātrasamaye sūtaputreṇa kṛtāyā bāṇavarṣāyā vyathitā ime pāñcālāḥ sainikā dhāvanti ||
etasyaivaṃ pravṛddhasya sūtaputrasya saṃyuge |
niṣeddhā vidyate nānyas tvām ṛte bhīmavikrama, bhayaṅkara-parākrama vīra |
asmīn yuddhasthale tvadanyo nāsti yo ’syaivaṃ vardhamānasya sūtaputrasya karṇasya gatiṃ nivārayitum arhati ||
Dijo Vāyu: «Mirad: así como los ciervos, acosados por un león, huyen despavoridos, del mismo modo, a esta hora de medianoche, los soldados de Pāñcāla, atormentados por la lluvia de flechas desatada por Karṇa, el hijo del auriga, corren por salvar la vida. En esta batalla, cuando el ímpetu de Karṇa crece y se desborda, no hay quien pueda contenerlo—salvo tú, oh Bhīma de gran pujanza, héroe de valor terrible. En este campo de guerra, nadie sino tú es apto para detener a Karṇa mientras avanza de esta manera».
