Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a dharmic concern for rightful order: a king (even among humans) should ensure harmony with legitimate authority and the proper functioning of the hierarchy—here symbolized by Indra’s well-being, his favor, and the gods’ orderly obedience.

Marutta addresses Agni (called Dhūmaketu) and asks for a full report: whether Indra is happy, whether he is pleased with Marutta and his people, and whether the other gods remain properly under Indra’s command.
