यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं
yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: «En aquel momento, el brahmán de excelsa condición había atado aquellos dos pendientes a una piel de ciervo. Su mirada estaba fija sólo en las enredaderas; no atendía a dónde caían las lianas cortadas. Así, casi todas las que segó fueron a caer sobre esa misma piel de ciervo en la que los dos pendientes habían quedado amarrados.»
