अध्याय ९ — धृतराष्ट्रस्य युधिष्ठिरं प्रति राजनित्युपदेशः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel on Royal Policy to Yudhiṣṭhira
विसर्जयामास तदा प्रकृतीस्तु शनै: शनै: । स तै: सम्पूजितो राजा शिवेनावेक्षितस्तथा
visarjayāmāsa tadā prakṛtīs tu śanaiḥ śanaiḥ | sa taiḥ sampūjito rājā śivenāvekṣitas tathā ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: Entonces el rey fue despidiendo poco a poco a sus servidores y a la asamblea. Habiendo sido debidamente honrado por ellos, y siendo contemplado con miradas auspiciosas y benévolas—como quien está bajo la gracia protectora de Śiva—Dhṛtarāṣṭra se despidió de todos con calma y orden, prevaleciendo el respeto mutuo y la buena voluntad.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even at the end of royal life, dharma is upheld through restraint, orderly conduct, and mutual respect—parting without agitation, honoring others, and accepting auspicious goodwill as one moves toward renunciation.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra, after being honored by those present, slowly dismisses the people/attendants. The scene emphasizes a calm leave-taking, with everyone regarding him favorably and auspiciously, linked in the verse to Śiva’s benevolent oversight.
