Permission for Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Forest-Retirement

Educational Q&A

Righteous governance depends on mutual trusteeship: elders/counselors must safeguard and guide the king, and the king must protect and honor them—treating each other as a sacred trust (nyāsa) under dharma.

The speaker formally designates a group of respected persons as guardians/trustees for the heroic king (identified in the accompanying context as Yudhiṣṭhira), emphasizing that this entrustment is a deliberate ethical charge, not merely a political arrangement.
