वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma expressed as service and reverence toward elders, joined with personal discipline (śauca). Even after political catastrophe, ethical life continues through care, restraint, and ritual order.
After completing purification rites, Kuntī (Pṛthā) escorts the aged Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Gāndhārī to the bank of the Gaṅgā, situating them in the practices and setting of their forest-dwelling stage.
