Adhyāya 16 — Daiva, Kṣatriya-dharma, and Public Reassurance to Dhṛtarāṣṭra
ये दस हजार हाथियोंके समान बलशाली और विख्यात बल-पराक्रमसे सम्पन्न भीमसेन पराजयको न प्राप्त हों; इसीलिये मैंने युद्धके हेतु उत्साह दिलाया था ।। भीमसेनादवरजस्तथायं वासवोपम: । विजयो नावसीदेत इति चोद्धर्षणं कृतम्,भीमसेनके छोटे भाई ये इन्द्रतुल्य पराक्रमी विजय-शील अर्जुन शिथिल होकर न बैठ जायूँ, इसीलिये मैंने उत्साह दिलाया था
bhīmasenād avarajas tathāyaṃ vāsavopamaḥ | vijayo nāvasīdet iti coddharṣaṇaṃ kṛtam ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Para que Arjuna —el hermano menor de Bhīmasena, poderoso como Indra— no perdiera el ánimo ni se sentara abatido, lo espoleé con palabras de aliento, decidido a asegurar la victoria.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A leader’s timely encouragement can prevent despair in a capable person; sustaining courage and resolve is presented as essential for fulfilling one’s duty and securing righteous success.
The speaker explains that he deliberately roused Arjuna—celebrated as Bhīma’s younger brother and Indra-like in strength—so that Arjuna would not become discouraged and withdraw, but remain steady toward victory.
