Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
एवंरूप: स भगवान् पुत्रस्ते हव्यवाहन । सूर्यवैश्वानरसम: कान्त्या सोम इवापर:,हव्यवाहन! आपका एऐश्वर्यशाली पुत्र ऐसे ही रूपवाला है। वह सूर्य तथा आपके समान तेजस्वी और दूसरे चन्द्रमाके समान कान्तिमान् है
evaṃrūpaḥ sa bhagavān putras te havyavāhana | sūryavaiśvānara-samaḥ kāntyā soma ivāparaḥ ||
Dijo Bhishma: «¡Oh Havyavāhana (Fuego), tu ilustre hijo es en verdad de tal figura! En resplandor es igual al Sol y a Vaiśvānara (el Fuego sagrado), y en suave fulgor es como otra Luna».
भीष्म उवाच
The verse conveys that true excellence is recognized through auspicious qualities—radiance, splendor, and divine-like presence—used here as ethical markers of inner merit and worthy stature.
Bhishma addresses Havyavāhana (Agni) and extols Agni’s son, comparing his brilliance to the Sun and sacred Fire (Vaiśvānara) and his beauty to the Moon, thereby affirming the son’s exceptional nature.
