Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
वेदा धर्माश्च नोच्छेदं गच्छेयु: सुरसत्तमा: । विहितं पूर्वमेवात्र मया वै व्येतु वो ज्वर:
vedā dharmāś ca nocchedaṃ gaccheyuḥ surasattamāḥ | vihitaṃ pūrvam evātra mayā vai vyetu vo jvaraḥ ||
Bhishma dijo: «Oh los mejores entre los dioses, los Vedas y el Dharma no caerán en la extinción. Ya he dispuesto de antemano el medio para impedirlo. Por tanto, que se disipe vuestra febril inquietud».
भीष्म उवाच
The continuity of the Vedas and Dharma must be safeguarded; wise foresight and proper arrangements prevent the collapse of sacred knowledge and moral order, and such assurance should remove collective anxiety.
Bhishma addresses the gods, calming their concern that the Vedas and Dharma might be destroyed, stating that he has already taken measures to prevent such an outcome and urging them to abandon their worry.
