निवेदये चाहमिमं प्रियं ते क्रतुर्महानल्पधनप्रचार: । प्राप्तो मया तात स मत्प्रसूत: प्रपत्स्थते वेदविधिप्रवृत्त:
nivedaye cāham imaṁ priyaṁ te kratur mahān alpa-dhana-pracāraḥ | prāpto mayā tāta sa mat-prasūtaḥ prapatsyate veda-vidhi-pravṛttaḥ ||
Padre querido, te comunico esta grata nueva: he obtenido ese gran rito sacrificial—un gran yajña en forma de donación de vacas—que puede cumplirse con riqueza modesta. Padre, surgido por mi propia acción, ahora avanzará conforme al mandato védico y quedará establecido en la práctica.
नाचिकेत उवाच

Nāciketa addresses an elder as 'tāta' and reports pleasing news: he has obtained a great sacrificial rite that can be carried out with limited resources, and he declares that it will now be put into effect according to Vedic rules and become established in practice.
