Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
निश्चित्य मनसा सर्व गुणदोषबलाबलम् | दग्धुकाम: कुलं सर्व कुशिकानां तपोधन:
niścitya manasā sarva-guṇa-doṣa-balābalam | dagdhukāmaḥ kulaṃ sarvaṃ kuśikānāṃ tapodhanaḥ |
Dijo Bhishma: Habiendo resuelto firmemente en su mente—tras sopesar todos los méritos y faltas, las fuerzas y las flaquezas—el asceta Chyavana, decidido a reducir a cenizas a todo el linaje de los Kushika, tomó su determinación. Pues había sabido de antemano que, por una alianza matrimonial con una doncella de la estirpe kushika, surgiría en su propia familia una grave mancha contra la condición de kshatriya. Así, después de deliberar interiormente sobre el equilibrio del dharma en aquel asunto, el sabio se acercó al rey Kushika, impulsado por el deseo de convertir en ceniza a todo el clan.
