Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
अविशड्कस्तु कुशिकस्तथेत्येवाह धर्मवित् | न प्रबोधयतां तौ च दम्पती रजनीक्षये,धर्मज्ञ राज कुशिकने नि:ःशंक होकर कहा, “बहुत अच्छा'। रात बीती, सबेरा हुआ, किंतु उन पति-पत्नीने मुनिको जगाया नहीं
aviśaṅkastu kuśikastathetyevāha dharmavit | na prabodhayatāṃ tau ca dampatī rajanīkṣaye ||
Kuśika, conocedor del dharma y libre de sospecha, respondió: «Así sea; muy bien». Cuando la noche llegó a su fin y despuntó el alba, el esposo y la esposa aún no despertaron al sabio.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic composure and trust: the dharma-knowing Kuśika responds without suspicion, while the householders’ restraint in not disturbing a resting guest underscores the ethical weight of considerate conduct and hospitality.
Kuśika agrees calmly (“so be it”). The night passes into morning, yet the husband and wife do not wake him, indicating they allow the sage to rest and do not interrupt him even at daybreak.
