The Determination of Value through the Cow
Nahuṣa–Cyavana Episode
Learning alone does not protect a person; when one is ruled by desire and anger, one becomes susceptible to being led into unethical conduct. The implied remedy is mastery over kāma and krodha.
In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma (Anushasana Parva), he offers a cautionary observation about moral vulnerability: both the ignorant and the learned can be diverted from right conduct if they are driven by passion and wrath.
