Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
इयं गज्नेति नियतं प्रतिष्ठा गुहस्य रुक्मस्य च गर्भयोषा । प्रातस्त्रिवर्गा घृतवहा विपाष्मा गड़ावतीर्णा वियतो विश्वतोया
iyaṃ gaṅgeti niyataṃ pratiṣṭhā guhasya rukmasya ca garbhayoṣā | prātas trivargā ghṛtavahā vipāśmā gaṅgāvatīrṇā viyato viśvatoyā ||
Quien, con certeza, diga: «Ésta es la Gaṅgā», y permita a otros contemplarla, obtiene el amparo seguro e infalible de la bienaventurada Bhāgīrathī. Ella es el río sagrado que lleva en su seno al divino Skanda (Guha) y también el oro; derrama corrientes puras, nutritivas como el ghee, y aparta el pecado. Descendida del cielo a la tierra, sus aguas son aptas para que el mundo entero las beba. Bañarse en ella al alba concede éxito en los tres fines de la vida: dharma, artha y kāma.
