Great ritual merit is linked not only to costly ceremonies but also to inner discipline: purification by bathing, sincere mantra-recitation, and sustained fasting (three nights) can confer the fruit traditionally associated with the Aśvamedha.
Ajadriya describes a specific observance: bathing in a kulyā, reciting the Aghamarṣaṇa mantra, and fasting for three nights. He states that this practice grants the merit of an Aśvamedha, presenting an accessible dharmic alternative to grand royal sacrifice.
