अहिंसयित्वा ब्रह्महत्याविधानम् / Brahmahatyā incurred without physical violence
ये त्वेवंगुणजातीयास्तेभ्यो दत्त महाफलम् | सहस्रगुणमाप्रोति गुणाहाय प्रदायक:
ye tv evaṁguṇajātīyās tebhyo dattaṁ mahāphalam | sahasraguṇam āpnoti guṇāhāya pradāyakaḥ ||
Dijo Bhishma: Los dones dados a receptores que poseen de verdad tales virtudes producen un gran fruto. En efecto, el dador alcanza un retorno mil veces mayor, pues el acto de dar se engrandece por las cualidades del receptor y por la elección discerniente del que ofrece.
भीष्म उवाच
Charity becomes especially fruitful when directed to recipients of genuine virtue; the donor’s merit multiplies greatly when giving is guided by discernment and respect for moral excellence.
Bhishma continues his instruction on dharma, explaining the ethics of dāna: the spiritual result of a gift depends not only on the act of giving but also on the worthiness and qualities of the recipient.
