Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)
लब्धवानीप्सितान् कामानहं वै पाण्डुनन्दन | तथा त्वमपि शर्वाद्धि सर्वान् कामानवाप्स्यसि,'पाण्डुनन्दन! इसके पाठसे मैंने अपनी मनोवांछित कामनाओंको प्राप्त कर लिया था। उसी प्रकार तुम भी शंकरजीसे सम्पूर्ण कामनाओंको प्राप्त कर लोगे”
labdhavān īpsitān kāmān ahaṃ vai pāṇḍunandana | tathā tvam api śarvād dhi sarvān kāmān avāpsyasi ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Oh hijo de Pāṇḍu, en verdad obtuve los deseos que anhelaba. Del mismo modo, tú también alcanzarás toda petición de Śarva (Śiva), pues él concede el cumplimiento».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Steadfast devotion and proper recitation/observance connected with Śiva is presented as efficacious: the speaker assures that sincere practice leads to the fulfillment of legitimate aims, emphasizing faith and divine grace.
Vaiśampāyana addresses a Pāṇḍava, testifying from personal experience that he attained his desired ends, and he encourages the listener that, likewise, Śiva (Śarva) will grant the listener complete fulfillment of wishes.
