मुहूर्तमिव च ध्यात्वा व्यास: सत्यवतीसुतः । नृपं शयानं गाड़ेयमिदमाह वचस्तदा,तब दो घड़ीतक ध्यान करनेके पश्चात् सत्यवती-नन्दन व्यासने वहाँ सोये हुए गंगानन्दन महाराज भीष्मजीसे इस प्रकार कहा--
muhūrtam iva ca dhyātvā vyāsaḥ satyavatīsutaḥ | nṛpaṃ śayānaṃ gāṅgeyam idam āha vacas tadā ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Tras reflexionar por lo que pareció un breve instante, Vyāsa, hijo de Satyavatī, se dirigió entonces a Bhīṣma—el rey nacido del Gaṅgā—que yacía en su lecho, y pronunció estas palabras.
