Anuśāsana-parva 17

यज्ञानामपि यो यज्ञ: शिवानामपि य:ः शिव: । रुद्राणामपि यो रुद्र: प्रभा प्रभवतामपि

yajñānām api yo yajñaḥ śivānām api yaḥ śivaḥ | rudrāṇām api yo rudraḥ prabhā prabhavatām api ||

Vāyu dijo: «Aquel que es el sacrificio mismo entre los sacrificios; el auspicioso entre todo lo auspicioso; Rudra entre los Rudras; y el esplendor aun de los espléndidos—escucha de mí los mil ocho nombres de ese Señor Śiva, de fulgor inconmensurable, el Sí mismo de todos los seres, de quien nacen los mundos y en quien finalmente se disuelven. Oh el mejor de los hombres, con sólo oír esto alcanzarás el cumplimiento de todos tus deseos».
