यह सहस्रनाम सम्पूर्ण पापोंका नाश करनेवाला और चारों वेदोंके समन्वयसे युक्त है। मनको वशमें करके प्रयत्नपूर्वक इसका ज्ञान प्राप्त करे और सदा अपने मनमें इसको धारण करे। यह मंगलजनक, पुष्टिकारक, राक्षसोंका विनाशक तथा परम पावन है ।।
yaḥ sahasranāma sampūrṇaḥ pāpānāṃ nāśa-karakaḥ caturṇāṃ vedānāṃ samanvayena yuktaḥ | manaḥ vaśaṃ kṛtvā prayatna-pūrvakaṃ tasya jñānaṃ prāpnu-yāt (prāpnotu) ca sadā svamanasi enaṃ dhārayet | etat maṅgala-janakaṃ puṣṭi-kārakaṃ rākṣasānāṃ vināśakaṃ tathā parama-pāvanaṃ || idaṃ bhaktāya dātavyaṃ śraddadhānāstikāya ca | na aśraddadhāna-rūpāya nāstikāya ajitātmanē ||
Dijo Vāyu: «Este ‘Mil Nombres’, completo, destruye todos los pecados y está armonizado con la concordia de los cuatro Vedas. Habiendo sometido la mente, uno debe, con esfuerzo deliberado, alcanzar su verdadero conocimiento y mantenerlo siempre guardado en el corazón. Es auspicioso, fortalecedor, destructor de rākṣasas y supremamente purificador. Esto debe darse a un devoto, a quien tiene fe y es creyente; no debe darse a quien es de naturaleza incrédula, a un no creyente, ni a quien no ha dominado el propio ser.»
वायुदेव उवाच
Sacred recitation and its knowledge are ethically potent only when approached with self-control and faith; therefore, such teachings should be entrusted to devoted, believing, and disciplined recipients, not to the faithless, unbelieving, or self-unmastered.
Vāyudeva praises a ‘Sahasranāma’ as Veda-aligned and highly purifying, then sets a rule of transmission: it is to be taught or given only to qualified persons—devotees with faith and āstika disposition—while withholding it from those lacking faith, belief, or self-mastery.
