वृथादारान् न गच्छन्ति वृथामांसं न भुञ्जते । दीप्तमन्निं जुह्बते च गुरूणां वचने स्थिता:
vṛthādārān na gacchanti vṛthāmāṁsaṁ na bhuñjate | dīptam agniṁ juhvate ca gurūṇāṁ vacane sthitāḥ ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: «No se unen a mujeres fuera del matrimonio legítimo; no comen carne, teniéndola por vana e inútil; vierten oblaciones en el fuego sagrado que arde resplandeciente; y permanecen firmes en la obediencia a los mandatos de sus mayores y maestros.»
