आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृत: सम्प्रमर्दन: । अहःसंवर्तको वल्लिरनिलो धरणीधर:
āvartano nivṛttātmā saṁvṛtaḥ sampramardanaḥ | ahaḥsaṁvartako vahnir anilo dharaṇīdharaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dijo: Él es quien pone en movimiento la rueda de la existencia mundana, y sin embargo su propio Ser permanece siempre retirado de toda atadura. Velado por su propio poder yóguico, se vuelve aun así la fuerza que aplasta y somete a todos mediante sus formas terribles. Como Sol hace nacer rectamente el día; como Fuego lleva la oblación; como Viento se mueve como aliento vital; y como Sostén de la Tierra—como Varāha y Śeṣa—sustenta el mundo. Así se alaba al Señor como una sola realidad que aparece en múltiples funciones cósmicas.
